Its name is derived from the Amazon River in Brazil. It has traditionally been used to build harmonious relationships. In effect, it is thought to help curb the tendency to express oneself using sarcastic and critical words.

Amazonite is an alkali feldspar mineral. A potassium, aluminium silicate with a hardness of 6 to 6.5. It is found in Russia, Brazil, Madagascar and the USA.
