Geological Description

Quartz is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. Its crystal system is hexagonal, which grows in a large variety of formations. Although the majority of Quartz is from Arkansas, Brazil and Madagascar it is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth. However, it can be found in almost every continent in the world.

Crystal Quartz exhibits the property of piezoelectricity. As a result, this means it can transform mechanical energy (e.g. pressure) into electromagnetic energy and vice versa.
